Ag Ministry may raise forecast for Russia’s 2023 grain harvest
KAZAN, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- The Agriculture Ministry’s forecast for the grain harvest in Russia in 2023 stands at 123 million tonnes right now, but the authority may raise it during as the harvesting campaign unfolds, Minister Dmitry Patrushev said on Friday during an exhibition.
“If we speak about specific figures, we are still holding on to the amount stipulated by the production forecasts of 123 million tonnes, including 78 million tonnes of wheat,” he said.
But much depends on harvesting and the weather, and the ministry may be able to raise the forecast soon, he said.
Patrushev also said that Russia’s grain exports hit a record of 60 million tonnes in the previous agricultural year that started on July 1, 2022 and ended on June 30, 2023, while revenue from exports of agricultural products exceeded U.S. $41 billion.
